Brandon Moreno, a senior at Jesuit High in California, took third in his 1,600-meter qualifying heat in 4:10.72 at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Moreno was one of five athletes in his race to achieve sub-4:11 performances, all advancing to the final.
